There was a more unconventional reason behind it when The Øresund Bridge turned on the lights in Danish and Swedish colors on the night before Thursday, February 1.

It was not a major handball final between Denmark and Sweden or traditional holidays being celebrated when The Øresund Bridge lit up in Danish and Swedish colors from midnight going into Thursday, February 1st.

The reason is that at 12:00 at noon February 1, registration opens for The Bridge Run 2025. The race is a celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Øresund Bridge as a connection and a symbol of cohesion between Denmark and Sweden.

In this event, 40,000 participants will have the opportunity on Sunday, June 15, 2025, to run from Øresund Park in Kastrup, Denmark down through the tunnel to the island Peberholm, and up to a height of 57 meters above sea level with a view over the Oresund towards the finish line at a runner’s party near Limhamn on the Swedish coast near Malmö.

“The Bridge Run 2025 will not just be a spectacular run that one will have a hard time to forget. It is also a celebration of the relationship between our two countries and all the derived benefits associated with the inauguration of The Øresund Bridge in 2000,” says Linus Eriksson, CEO of The Øresund Bridge.

“This is an opportunity to run across the bridge, an experience that many of us may never experience again. Therefore, we want to organize the run and create the framework that such a spectacular experience deserves,” says Linus Eriksson
